A portrait of me by Laura Partain. Her explanation of what happened with this photo: “Taken on a day I was striving so hard to make something perfect. Then in one moment of happenstance and horror the negative almost disappeared forever in the wrong chemical tray. I quickly snatched it out, washed it, and placed it in the developer, and hoped for the next 20 minutes in the dark that something fruitful would still be present on the film. With a few chemical stains and scratches, I found that I love it more than if it were perfect.”
